Alfreton Market is launching a plastic bag exchange scheme sponsored by Eurocell PLC, a substantial employer in the local community.

The scheme starts on Tuesday 8th December and will continue on Thursday 10th, Friday 11th and concludes Saturday 12th December 2009. Shoppers will be able to visit the bag exchange stall in the center aisle in the market and exchange 5 plastic bags for a new, re-usable bag made from re-cycled plastic. The bag bears the Eurocell logo and gives details of the market opening days. All collected bags will be sent for re-cycling.

The stall which will be open from 10.30 until 2.30 each day will be staffed by local traders and friends.

The scheme is being supported by the Amber Vally Borough Council who manage the market.

The market has recently seen a number of new businesses opening and the bag exchange scheme is an opportunity for local shoppers to re-acquaint themselves with the traders on the market.
