Alfreton Photo Competition 2009

This is the first year of Alfreton’s Photo Competition and with limited budget and publicity it's got off to a great start!

People from all around the Alfreton area have joined in, contributed entries and shown support by adding comments and votes for their favourite photo’s on http://www.alfretonuk.co.uk.

The aim of the competition was simple – to produce a photograph displaying natural beauty in and around the Alfreton area.

Alfreton's Online Photo Library

The Alfreton UK Website is Alfreton’s leading online Photo Library which encourages people from all over the world to contribute images, illustrations and photographs of anything and everything related to Alfreton Town and its surrounding villages.

The website is divided into sections and people can simply upload photo’s, view other pictures, comment and vote for their favourites too. Sections include local people, family events, Face Of Alfreton (From Alfreton Town Fans Page on Facebook) trains, nature shots, landmarks, historical pictures, buses, Local Businesses, Recreation areas, Alfreton Hall and many other subjects besides. In a few short months the website has recieved over 15,000 visitors from all around the world.

Presentation

The presentation for the Winner of Alfreton’s 2009 Photo Competition is on Saturday 7th November at 1pm at “The Bar” Shop on High Street Alfreton – Everyone is welcome to come along.

Adam Marriot with his entry Early Morning Mist wins this years 1st place. Adam is a keen amateur photographer and he is delighted to win a competition for his work. Adam lives in Somercotes with his new wife Dawn.

The judging was independantly conducted by Hannah Ainsworth. A difficult choice was made and Adam came through as having captured a moment in time.

Close second

A very close second was by Tony Fisher who achieved more online votes and comments than Adam; And in 3rd place was a very serene shot of Ogstan Reservoir taken on Christmas Day Morning 2008 by Kelly Cooper.

Prize

Along with publicity, Adam wins a bottle of Champagne, a box of chocolates, and Bench goodies donated by “The Bar” Shop on Alfreton High Street and will be presented with his prizes at the shop this Saturday at 1pm.

Adam’s winning picture will also be shown online at http://www.alfretononline.co.uk for the next year.

Special Thanks - Goes to our new friends - Tina Auger at "The Bar" Shop, High Street, Alfreton for the prize donations and to Amber Valley FM for helping to publicise the event.
